  • head injuries

Long story short, was up in Creede, CO taking my girls on a quick camping trip before school started and hit my head on a beam supporting the porch. The guys working on the porch failed to put up the warning tape and also failed to put up the temporary lights and resulted in all these stitches. Took about 50 minutes to get the bleeding to stop. Had to have someone drive me all the way to Del Norte, CO to get it taken care of. Owner of the campground admitted fault and apologized, ended up driving me over an hour to the hospital and sitting with my girls while I was getting stitched up.

what's your head trauma story? Sucks I cant have any pain meds and have a concussion. I cant believe how much the head bleeds when cut. I went through two t-shirts and a sweatshirt before it stopped bleeding. Hospital had 1 doctor and 2 nurses so had to wait a while but glad they could take care of me. Makes you wonder how much folks are SOL out in the wilderness when something bad happens. Have to give kudos to the old man (85 years young) for driving me to and from the hospital and taking care of my kids while I was in the ER.

*here is the after pic, that was the before

I went to duck under a beam in my attic and almost knocked myself out a few months ago. Had a two inch gash right across the top of my head. Didn't really hurt that much though. Bled pretty good for a few minutes.
    Whos your Daddy?

a good stitch job will have the stitches just below the outer layer of skin so you don't have a wrinkled train track scar

I was catcher on my baseball team when I was 12. Runner on third, wild pitch. Flipped my mask off and went after the ball. Turned to toss to the pitcher to tag out the runner stealing home, but he wasn't there. I dive in just as the runner slides in. Cleats dug right into the head digging two mean gashes.

Next thing I know I'm in a sitting position with my coach, pitcher and mom around me telling me not to move. There's a rag on my head, and when I remove it blood runs all over my face.

Long story short, mild concussion and like twenty staples to close it up. Left a decent scar.

Funny thing. I was told by everyone there that I dove in and tagged the guy out, got up with blood running down my face, showed the ball to the Ump to let him know I got him out like it was no big thing, dropped it, and proceeded to fall to the ground unconscious like a felled tree. Don't remember a god damned bit of that, and unfortunately no one had a camera rolling so I could see my forgotten baddasity.

I think just about everyone on DFWMustangs has had a head injury at one point. it's kind of the reason we are all still here..

They were repairing the roof of the porch and put up a temporary support beam. They failed to put up safety tape and turn on the lights like they should have per the manager. Stitches are all the way across that cut, like 12 or 14, can't remember exactly.

Dude, I'm buying the old man a $100 bass pro shops gift card. Any man that admits fault, and offers to drive me and my girls to a hospital over an hour away, sit with and take my girls to dinner over 8 hours then drive us home is a stand up citizen in my book. He is 85 years old and I told him multiple times how much I appreciate what he did. No cell signal, no one to contact, I was pretty helpless bleeding out there and he did what he had to to take care of me. Very commendable.

The stitches look good. I can't even see them, unless that'sca before pic. My repair looked like they subcontracted it to a construction crew who figured they might as well use up the rest of the staples in their staple gun since it was handy. Luckily they healed even in all but one spot, but they looked fucking ghastly.
