Our CEOs (yes plural, we have 2 co-CEOs) agreed to do it if employees combined contributions exceeded $1,000. They exceeded that number in one day (yesterday).

They said the following in the mass email about the results:

So far, the Challenge for ALS that is sweeping the globe has raised over $31.5 million. Just yesterday the Challenge garnered $8.6 million, the largest amount raised in a single day in their fundraising history!

"Public and Professional Education" title made me wonder just how much of that was for the public and how much was spent in-house getting their people post grad degrees and other nonsense. I really dont like the way these companies rake in millions (i believe alsa did 55 mil last year) and spend a fraction of it on their "cause".

They spend 27% on research and 19 on patient and community services. Education is high, but some education is required.

Fundraising and admin is only like 21%

Whoever came up with this one for ALS is a damned genius and the proof is in the amount of donations they have received. People (or lemmings, depending on your perspective) are going to continue to jump on board with these stupid internet trends anyways, why not capitalize on it to bring in charitable donations!

I did it and got several people in my unit to do it as well. Bush rocked it but Obama, of course, pussed out and said he'd donate instead. What he means is taxpayers will donate and put his name on the check
