Law enforcement in this country is long past a point of needing to be completely rethought and reinvented. But of course, we allow them to lobby just like corporations so they never see a budget reduced, no matter how much they squander it, then supplement it with seizures from citizens. It's a perfect mouse trap of circular never ending bullshit that lines their pockets and encourages overzealous behavior.
Sometimes it feels like this world is spinning faster
Than it did in the old days
So naturally we have more natural disasters
From the strain of a fast pace

Sunday was the day of rest
Now its one more day for progress
    And we can't slow down
    Cause more is best
    It's all an endless process

    Well I miss Mayberry
Sitting on the porch drinking ice cold Cherry --- Coke
Where everything is black & white
    Picking on a Six String
Where people pass by and you call them by their first name
    Watching the clouds roll by
    bye bye

Sometimes I can hear this old earth shouting
Through the trees as the wind blows
Thats when I climb up here on this mountain
    To look through God's window

    Now I can't fly
    But I've got two feet
To get me high up here
Above the noise and city streets
    My worries disappear

    Well I miss Mayberry
Sitting on the porch drinking ice cold Cherry --- Coke
Where everything is black & white
    Picking on a Six String
Where people pass by and you call them by their first name
    Watching the clouds roll by
    bye bye

Sometimes I dream I'm driving down an old dirt road
Not even listed on the map
I pass a dad and son carrying a fishing pole
But I always wake up everytime I try to turn back

    Well I miss Mayberry
Sitting on the porch drinking ice cold Cherry Coke
Where everything is black & white
    Picking on a Six String
Where people pass by and you call them by their first name
    Watching the clouds roll by
    bye bye

I'm referring to the "a lot of society's problems" portion of it, not just the cop portion.
Society's problems isn't cops. Society's problem is the "it's all about me/what can everyone do for me" mentality.
No one gives a shit about anyone else anymore. No one cares about shooting some kid, no one cares about rioting some store in their own community that has nothing to do with anything, no one cares about randomly shooting at random people.
When you're a target, and you're dealing with people of that mindset, how do you win?

        Not with tear gas, obviously.

This is the contrast from Wednesday to Thursday.
First, the county police took over and now the highway patrol. Yes, the tactics have changed, but the mob lost its momentum too. Don't think that didn't factor into it.

Furthermore, I know that guy wasn't in charge, but if he knows the community, he could have rallied the community in the same fashion. Do you think MLK Jr. was ever 'in charge' officially of anything he organized and led? Timing is everything in this world, and if that guy had tried to make the group peaceful on Monday, he would have taken a beating.

How do you think this could have been handled quicker and more efficiently then Negrodamus?

When you claim to protect and serve, you don't roll vehicles and gear we didn't use in combat, in the US

When you claim you want to fight for civil rights, you don't destroy property and mob/riot against your own community.

What gear/vehicles would you suggest people use when they are outnumbered 1v100?

When the cops are servants and cannot engage like a fighting force? Squad cars and vans. They are there to deescalate not to fight.

it's simple... you act like a bunch of wild animals, you get treated as such...

Until "they" understand this fact of life, nothing will ever change.

So I'm gonna go out on a limb and say the black community only cares about making the robber an angel and the cop an executioner

Notice the difference in attitude in the community when the military gear is put up and the officers are actually interacting with the community instead of wearing armor and carrying (in Obama's words) weapons of war?
