He gassed it to turn the car and avoid the guy. They steer as much with throttle and brakes as they do with the steering wheel. To suggest he would hit the guy on purpose is stupid.

Maybe so being on slick dirt is different than pavement or asphalt. No doubt he didn't mean to kill him. Bad situation all around though.
