I, like you, have started letting things go. It's just not productive or healthy to look at things negatively all the time, and negativity and a bad outlook on life are choices that we make every day. All things considered, my life is pretty good. The only reason it's lacking in some aspects is my own fault. It's not anyone else's fault. Blame-shifting, pointing the finger, self-obsession, and coddling are some of the biggest reasons the world is how it is today, but I think the biggest reason we are in the terrible mess we call society is because people don't consciously choose to be good people. Like the video said, it's easier to default to the negative view that we all have inside when we are tired, stressed, or angry at something.
In the last year of my life I have made a conscious effort to always look at the bright side of things, and I have found the the extra effort pays off in spades when I can go home and actually relax instead of rehashing all of the negative stuff I've said or thought throughout the day. A lot of times I have caught myself (and still do catch myself, although it's happening quite a bit less) thinking negative thoughts about the people around me and situations I am in, and taking the low road or the path of least resistance is just not worth it. It's not worth the extra headaches I give myself thinking about how that person was being an ass-hole or how they were only thinking about themselves instead of the greater good.
I feel if more people would start thinking like this that the world would make a relatively quick comeback and be a nice place to live again.
