Sealing brass NPT fittings

I got this 40 year old air tank from my dad. I built up a manifold with 1/4" brass NPT fittings.

It will lose 80 PSI of air in less than 2 hours. I sprayed it down with soapy water- the tank is sound. But my manifold leaks at almost every joint, I used Teflon tape, in 1 layer, and later 3 layers - still leaks.

What can I use to seal all the NPT fittings? RTV? pipe dope?

i cant remember what its called but buy that crap you use to put on your gas line connection. i may have some at the house from when i replaced the waterheater. they can save that "gotta bring it up to code" shit for the suckas.

Something called rectorseal, works great on air gas or water. Should have it at home depot

I have not had luck with this for sealing air, teflon tape always works best for air in my experience.

I have an 80-gal compressor and I can leave the compressor switched on and it takes a couple days to finally bleed down enough (roughly 50psi) to kick on the compressor. I use teflon tape.

Ditto. Would love for it to not leak though. Keeping an eye on this thread so I can seal that fucker up.

Ever since I switched to a flexzilla hose, I have never had any problems. In fact I had my compressor sitting for a month and a half, i left it with 100psi on the dot, and I came back to 100psi on the dot. Fucking incredible.
