+1. I use them for both air and garden hoses and they are the shit.

Whole lot of that. Well, not a whole lot of, but liberally along the threads.

put a ball valve off the output on the compressor tank and shut the valve when you dont use it

To piggy-back on to this.. I see that many of you leave air in your compressor when not in use. I know that mine specifies to empty it after use, which I usually do, but.. Is it okay to leave air in it, or not, or does it depend on the compressor?

There are times when I would use my compressor for something small if it had air in it, but it isn't worth filling it up for the small task. Not that I have a huge compressor, only 26 gal, but from empty it takes a good 5-10 min to fill.

They probably tell you that incase something happens and it blows up, they don't want to be liable or something along those lines...

                I've NEVER emptied mine

OK- got Rectorseal T Plus 2 with PFTE ( Teflon). Completely disassembled the whole manifold assembly, wire brushed everything until all the teflon tape was gone (including the female side of the fittings). Then cleaned everything with lacquer thinner.

I doped all the fittings until the threads were completely filled 360 degrees with the Rectorseal. I carefully reassembled everything- and there is a ball valve shut off, just before the regulator/drier.

Aired up the system to 80 PSI, and looked 3 hours later, and it was at 72 PSI.

Much better- but it makes you wonder how anyone gets a natural gas system sealed up in a house...........

This is what I do. My compressor never turns on unless the valve is open...

Ive always had good luck with red thread lock. Never once had a leak since using it. My compressor is a 20 gallon, it kicks on about once every 2 or so weeks if I leave air in the lines and dont use it to pump back up... also I have pvc line running from the back to the front of my garage.
