What was your combo and drive train? Couldn't have been cheap at all but that would be awesome. I would be happy with a low 12sec version of that.

Eagle 4 inch crank, Eagle forged rods, B351 block(sportsman) je 8.5 compression dish pistons, box stock vic jr edelbrocks, super vic spyder style intake, vortech ys, then ysi blower on low boost 14-15 psi, fuel system and FAST ecu... compared to the build Im doing now, it was a fucken steal... it ran mid 11s and got over 20 mpg average without the blower btw... so a 408 on motor sounds like all u need.

That's awesome! I would love to come across something like you had. My problem is I don't have the coin to afford a car that is spotless on the outside and built motor/drivetrain. Hard to find one like that for under 14.

408 isn't going to get descent mpg... Which is not a big concern. If I modify it, it would be a HCI and low boost. I feel like that would be alot more friendly. Can you run the 351 based motors with a stock hood? I thought they are to tall and require a cowl hood which its something I can't stand normally.

Like Sean says, with the right K you can run the 351 and the stock hood... the motor will sit a little low, so having the car lowered might be a concern with the oil pan sitting an inch or so lower to the pavement and un protected by the k member. my 408 got better mpg than my HCI 302 did... you dont have to mash the pedal as much to get the car to move with all the extra torque. plus you can run a smaller cam if you want and let the cubic inches make the power for you, vs running a big cam in a 302 to make any decent power.

another option is throw a cammed ls1 in it. lol i HATE this idea, but if you are on somewhat a budget, the ls will make more power than the windsor everytime... gotta spend BANK on the little Ford to make more power... like 2 x what the car will cost you.

Get the LX. I'm partial to them though. I have one identical to that one.

Miss my 91 notch everyday. But if it was me I'd get the hatchback over the GT any day except if it was a 93 cobra.

One owner low mile LX would be my choice... This is what my youngest son bought me for Father's Day last year. Car is a two owner. Girl moved into the neighborhood about 18 years ago and it was her daily. Always garaged. She bought a new 06 vert and parked the fox.
My son knew how much I liked the car and went down and made an offer. Needs work, but I'm happy as can be with it. My first retirement project!

If you want a modified car there are plenty out there. Hell buy a roller.

You should be able to find a nice heads cam car for under 7 still id think.

Even if you have to rebuild a motor you sound like thats the plan anyway. Might as well have the heads and intake and such already. Save a few grand off the top.

Thats a good idea. Finding a nice body with those mods in my price range will he difficult.

I got detailed pics of the car. The thing that concerns me is it has rustproofing that is visible on the inside bottom of the door. Also underhood uas the same treatment and makes the engine bay appear more dirty.

If the rustproofing is Ziebart, its not difficult to remove. You do need very detailed pics of the bottom side due to the salt use in the winter.

I believe it is ziebart. It is pretty evident the car never stayed outside and I highly doubt it ever saw salt. I have seen underbody pictures and it appears.to have been.coated but nothing stuck out to me in a bad way. I will try to upload a photo of the engine bay and under the door.

They also sprayed some stuff into the door apparently as there are a few plugs in the door.
