I am to the point where I will take quiet over convenience. Hell, I rarely leave the house after work anyways these days. I do most my shopping in the one lunch break I take a week. Give me a 2,000 sq ft house and a good sized shop on some land and I will be golden. (as long as I dont have to mow it lol)

I'd like to have 5-10 acres on the outskirts of a major city. Problem is, you get the place you want like that, build it up nice, and in ten years, the city will grow up around you. So the question is, how remote do you go for property like this?

My wife says she'd like to buy a place like this and break it up into 2 acre lots and move her and my parents out there with us. I'm not so sure about that, we don't make enough money to support them yet LOL.

I grew up in a suburb of Houston just east and we had 2 acres to play on, so I was always outside as a kid. With my neighborhood house my kids hardly ever play outside and it irks me. There are times that I have to make them turn off all electronics and get outside on pretty days, just seems a waste LOL.

I hate traffic too and at least where I'm at right now, there is little to no traffic. Every now and then there'll be a wreck or something slowing things down, but that's more like a once or twice a month occurrence on my daily commute.

I'd like to have at least enough land to have a 40x40 or bigger air conditioned shop and still have room to store 2 boats, jet skis, race car trailer, and an extra vehicle or two LOL. I have the room to store the vehicles right now, but not for a big shop like I want.

I've lived in the country for the last 31 years, 20 acres with a pond full of fish, plenty of game, and my own 100 yard range. I couldn't even think about moving back into town now, even though it's six miles to the closest place to get s loaf of bread. For 27 of those years I drove a 94 mile round trip to work, yeah it got really really old but it's worth every minute of it now that I'm retired
