Not yet. I never like going over to the ER department. I have been in the isolations rooms a few times fixing jacks or replacing phones. I try to avoid that entire floor.

I haven't heard any rumors about brining any Ebola patients here yet, really wouldn't make since. I'm pretty sure we only have a few isolation rooms. We do however have 2 very elaborate ambulance decontamination areas. So who knows.

That is what she heard through the Grapevine! They have CDC meetings everyday and Presby has room for two more patients and then Medical City is next in line if there is a 4th patient

I will say that last week they had a company come in and change out all our hand sanitizing stations. Used to be a pump style gel, now it's a aerosol foam and that shit is tuff on your skin. Must have a ton of alcohol because it leaves you hands very dry and itchy.

"We've got PPE, we're well trained, infection rate is low, what could possibly happen?"
We are not trained what so ever for this ebola stuff. But again, it is via droplet transmission. So keep his bodily fluids off you, dont have a needle stick and the chances are very slim.

I dont think the CDC is picking hospitals to move patients to. Its who shows up to the ER. My hospital is preparing for the event. We often are the local place other hospitals transfer patients too and we have been told that hospitals that receive a patient through their ER will be responsible for the patient care unless the CDC states they will be transferred to the specialty hospitals in Atlanta and what not.

BTW, the CDC was apparently at Harris Downtown with a rule out ebola today.

Well Presby Dallas shut their ER doors tonight. Yes CDC is picking Hospitals to move future Ebola Patients to. Med City just got a few transfer patients from Presby today if that says anything. The overflow from Presby ER is going to Med Citys ER now

I'm glad you are confident in you and your team's PPE practices, but to be real, I've seen several mistakes in procedures even from people knowing I was conducting an audit. Most of the time, people are so complacent, they don't even realize it.

Also, I'm not fully convinced this thing hasn't or hasn't yet turned airborne. Do you know the lifespan of the virus outside of a host?

Again, not discrediting you or anyone else, but just playing into a worst-case-scenario.

From the CDC: "Ebola on dried on surfaces such as doorknobs and countertops can survive for several hours; however, virus in body fluids (such as blood) can survive up to several days at room temperature."

That's a pretty big window of opportunity for someone to get the 'bola.
