  • No worries! We now have an Ebola Czar!

WASHINGTON — President Obama on Friday appointed Ron Klain, a former chief of staff for Vice Presidents Al Gore and Joseph R. Biden Jr., as Ebola “czar” to manage the government’s response to the deadly virus as anxiety grew over its possible spread, according to a White House official.

Mr. Klain is known for his ability to handle high-stakes and fast-moving political crises. He was the lead Democratic lawyer for Mr. Gore during the 2000 election recount, and was later played by Kevin Spacey in the HBO drama “Recount” about the disputed contest.

    • BREAKING NEWS – Today, in a bold and unprecedented move to combat the growing Ebola threat, newly sworn-in Ebola czar Ron Klain announced he was filing an ethics complaint against the virus, stating that it is illegally preventing the president from attending fundraisers for the Democrat Party.

“We believe the appearance of the contagion at this time of year is a deliberate attempt by Mr. Ebola to influence the mid-term elections. The president has been confined to the Waffle House for over a week now and is unable to campaign on behalf incumbent Democrats, who now consider him even more toxic than the virus. This is the greatest threat to the sanctity of our democracy since the Republican war on women,” said the former chief of staff to Joe “Plugs” Biden.

The president applauded Mr. Klain’s announcement saying, “This is the type of swift action the American people expect and deserve from my administration. I have a fundraiser with Beyonce scheduled for next Tuesday and this, er, ah, crisis must be resolved by then. It is vital for the future of America that I continue on my mission to make democracy safe for Democrats."

With that, the president sneezed and returned to the Oval Office.

      • Sick Woman Causes Pentagon Closures as Ebola Precaution

        Military.com Oct 17, 2014 | by Bryant Jordan

Officials Friday morning quickly cordoned off sections of the Pentagon parking lot and closed an entrance as an Ebola precaution after a woman vomited outside the Pentagon and said she had recently been to Africa.

Pentagon police shut down its Corridor 2 entrance and suspended all pedestrian and vehicle traffic at its south parking lot after police spotted the woman shortly after 9 am around lanes 17-19 of the south lot. She was ill and vomiting, said Lt. Col. Tom Crosson, a Defense Department spokesman.

While being treated by emergency responders from the nearby Arlington County Fire Department, the woman "indicated that she had recently visited Africa." The woman was taken to the Inova Fairfax Hospital in Virginia shortly before 10 am, officials said.

The Pentagon was not evacuated nor were service members or civilians quarantined inside. However, Crosson said lanes 7-23 will remain restricted until further notice.

"Out of an abundance of caution, all pedestrian and vehicular traffic was suspended around the South Parking lot, while Arlington County responded to the scene," Crosson said.

Officials across the U.S. have taken severe precautions when potential Ebola symptoms have been identified and patients have made a recent visit to Africa. The virus has spread across West Africa where it has killed more than 4,000 people.

One man already has died from the illness in Texas and two healthcare workers who had contact with the man are now being treated for the virus. A Marine has also voluntarily quarantined himself after he found out he was onboard the same flight as one of the nurses.

The U.S. is deploying troops to Liberia and other West African countries to support civilian-led operations to halt the spread of the virus.

            • I'm telling you, if you want a cure to ebola and travel restrictions in place, have someone vomit on the WH lawn AND on the steps of the House and Senate.

With the bang up job our secret service is doing you could probably run across the white house lawn and puke on his helicopter. They won't want to shoot you since it'll spread bodily fluids everywhere and they won't want to tackle you since they might get infected themselves. It'd be a free for all.

                • American Embassies In Ebola Countries Still Processing Visas For Non-US Citizens…

                  Why?

                  Via Daily Signal:

Despite the outbreak of Ebola, it is still possible to get a visa from the three West African countries at the heart of the outbreak, and a key congressman is demanding to know why.

Rep. Ed Royce, R-Calif., chairman of the House Foreign Relations Committee, sent a sternly worded letter to Secretary of State John Kerry about the Obama administration’s handling of the Ebola epidemic in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone.

Royce said he was “deeply concerned” U.S. embassies in those countries were continuing to process visas for non-U.S. nationals despite the outbreak of the deadly disease.

Probably shoot you and leave you lying there while they wait on hazmat to show up because "assault on an officer with a deadly weapon"/"bioterrorism."

Same thing happened to one of my friends on FB. A coworker was on the same flight, their entire facility will be closed for four days for sanitation.

This exactly! I work in healthcare, Texas Health Resources even (NOT Presby Dallas), and I am not worried. Until there is a case of the GP contracting Ebola it is nothing but media fueled hysteria.....

Unfortunately, we gotta sit and wait for over a week to find out.
