According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the Ebola outbreak has killed 4,447 people, with the large majority of victims in West Africa -- Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea.

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention*estimates that as many as 1.4 million people could be infected by the virus.

Only two Ebola cases have been diagnosed in the US, both in Texas, one of which has ended with the death of 42-year-old Thomas Eric Duncan – a Liberian national.

Nina Pham, a nurse at the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas, contracted the virus after treating Duncan. She is the first person to have contracted the deadly virus in the US.

However, a new poll shows nearly two-thirds of Americans are worried about the spread of the Ebola epidemic across the US.

According to the results published on Tuesday, 65 percent of the respondents voiced concerns over the epidemic.

Meanwhile, the United States has deployed hundreds of troops to Liberia to help fight spread of Ebola in the West African country.

The Pentagon says it is planning a 3,600-strong force to fight the Ebola epidemic in West Africa.

I started to research pandemics etc, did you guys know that the Spanish flu killed between 30-50 million people in 1918! That is 3% of world population at the time! 675,000 Americans died, and over 25% of the earths population was infected. More deaths in a one year time span than the black death had in 4. Why is this not in history text books?

Anyone get notice that you were in contact with the people on the plane? Three of my co workers were sent home yesterday because they were in contact with someone that was on the plane with the latest nurse. I am sure its going to be a wide circle of people.

I am totally of the opinoin at this point that they should release the names of all the people that were on the plane and all the health care workers that were exposed. As shown by the nurse and the family of the two student in Belton, people and our officials are too irresponsible for self-quarantine, so I want to know who they are so I can quarantine myself away from them.

Belton ISD closed 3 schools today, I live within their school district. There is a pretty fair chance I've walked by someone whose been in contact with someone from that school recently. A good portion of their students are Army brats, meaning there is almost certainly someone at Fort Hood that's been exposed to one of these kids somehow.

My wife works at Darnall btw. I'm sure their ER will be full of people this weekend.
