What's the difference? I am a medic and can bridge to RN w/ only a couple of classes, most of which aren't nursing specific. Training and education is virtually the same.

    • uh oh... wrong PPE led to the exposure? Not necessarily the donning/doffing of PPE?

Just effing amazing how they have effed this whole deal. There have gotta be hundreds if not thousands of people exposed at this point. This is just crazy.

This definitely is a crappy situation. No one is ready for something of this nature and no one has a protocol much less the proper gear. Hospitals all work this way though. Something bad happens and they learn from the previous mistakes. Patients die by accident, then they try and avoid it in the future.

          • I can't believe they don't know what to do. every idiot on the earth knows how bad this stuff is. I believe that they were surprised by this and were afraid to push the big red button.
And how the hell does an a-symptomatic person get cleared by the CDC to fly ? EFFFFFFFFFFF, how stupid do you have to be.

                        • The only difference in education is in things that apply to hospital specific things. I actually carry a higher skill set than a nurse. I can act without orders, intubate, etc...we are taught the same medical education, just the nurse receives care specific training IE ICU, L&D etc where as I am taught to handle it all on an emergent basis.

                              • Ah, inadequate PPE? Surely a properly trained professional would not go into the hot zone without the proper PPE.

                                So much schooling and training...

I never said the contamination was in the donning and/or doffing. I said that is where most contaminations occur, especially with the health care professionals.

I would call this fault on just about all levels. Government oversight, hospital administration and the actual patient handlers.

Sorry to get all the nurses on here twisted up in their naughty little skirts.
