When I moved 2 years ago I found a company that gave the option of either flat rate or hourly. I hated the idea of hourly so went flat rate. They came out and looked at everything I needed moved and gave me a quote of $400. This was essentially to move a 4 bedroom house (2400ish sq/ft) about 20 miles. Best money I ever spent! They did a great job for me so I sent my cousin to them (downtown dallas) when she was moving and they did a great job for her too. The name of the company is Red Ants Moving, and I recommend them.

Or is this I list what I need moved and my stuff gets "moved" but not exactly to my new house?

We are not even moving 10 miles but my wife is pregnant so she won't be doing much and I would rather our help be getting the new house ready while the movers are unloading.

Yeah thinking it may not be a wise idea to do that unless we cannot find anyone from a referral. I do sales and cannot have my phone blow up like that. May have to try using it for coworkers through if they piss me off.

I don't recall who we used, but it was 7 years ago, so no idea if they are even around still.

I used these guys last year and they were good and reasonably priced as well.

They did all the packing (I supplied materials to not be gouged) and they did the moving. I think the total was under $2k.
