Do you still do the "nod"

The head nod is going away. I find it awkward when people do it lol.

Not for me. Much like my blue jean shorts, T-shirt, and backwards hat, the nod is part of my personal style.

I also thought about this. I guess the nod is just a cousin to tipping the hat. I still do that every now an then too.

I take the "sup" nod as a more familiar, friendly non-verbal greeting, and the down nod as a more formal non-verbal one, typically for someone you don't know well, or perhaps someone that has many leather bound books.
That being said, I use both often.

I tend to smile and nod at people I see. I don't make it a point to make eye contact, though.

I did notice the other day that people seem to smile back less than they used to. I had to run to the grocery store, so I actually did make it a point to make eye contact and smile to every person that I happened on. It off around 10, 3 similed back. A couple nodded. The others ignored it completely. Two of the smiles back were women, and one was a guy, he actually struck up a conversation with me. The white people were less friendly.

If eye contact is made, then yeah.. Usually a nod and smile, at least. At least in my office building or professional environment. Not so much when walking through a mall or some place more heavily populated.

I do the nod down only if brief eye contact is made. Usually it's followed up by a "hi" or "hey" with a smile. Very rare I'll get a "how's it going".
