He had no visual on you for 20 minutes.... How can he prove it wasn't another black car speeding that he saw? Hell you were at the bank. Are you sure you didn't eat lunch by the bank too? Heck you may not have been on that bridge for over an hour....

This is a slam dunk to defend yourself. I do it every citation I receive. If you get a lawyer and they can't win this one for you, you should have them disbarred for incompetence.

You were driving 120 behind him, and you didn't overtake and pass him? How the fuck fast was he driving 130? There are so many ways you can go on this one.....

Because if he was driving the speed limit and you were driving 2X the speed limit you would overtake him really fast and he'd have rear radar, front radar and dashcam video of the pursuit. Does he have that? Obviously not.

I'd have this guy laughed out of court by the judge.

I was giving him a general answer to his theory on when my overheads need to come on. Really I had no clue what he was referring too in most of his post. I think he meant that there was no video in court of the stop. Depending on the length of time from the stop to the court date there may not be. The requirement for saved data on most non major events is 90 days. We all know attorneys can play games and drag things out for a while. Also I am not sure what he wants on radar evidence as he calls it. His story was just not understandable or reasonable from my experience. I worked in the courts and warrants for two years.

I will give you a little insight from two cities though. One city I worked for does not bring video to court, does not bring anything radar related to court, and really it is just testimony vs testimony. Most people set up court dates hoping the police just wont show up. Not showing up is a write up in any city I am aware of. Generally though we jot down the serial number and model of the radar.

The other city I have experience with saves video of every stop a little longer then that. The guys I work with not only burn the video for court, but spin the camera around and show the readings on the radar which gives out a lot of info. Not only that but my video backs up a full minute before the stop.

I play a lot of catch and release in my job. I stop people for solid violations and basically tell them to slow down or get their shit fixed a lot. DL, FMFR, Inspection and Registration are what I deal with the most. The first two people really should have to be out driving around. The second two are basically fix it tickets and have zero affect on your record.

Instead of sitting around the donut shop waiting to collect my pension Friday, I was out catching the burglars that have been raining havoc on my city for two weeks. 27 BMVs to be exact I think. Tagged the first one that morning after a helpful tip and being in the right spot at the right time, then got the second one that evening after an extensive investigation that led to a foot chase at 530 and then pulling him off the roof of a warehouse building. Yep all cops are a bunch of worthless jack booted thugs! I am always up for a friendly debate on the subjects at hand but the shitty comments and insinuations get a little old.

Some of the things you said just did not really make a lot of sense in defense of a citation. I really think you just where not presenting the information properly. Am I right you where wondering why there was not camera evidence when you where describing the lights being on? Also would you say I am in the ball park when you are talking about radar evidence? What you presented vs what actually may have happened where not really jiving, so it appeared as if your story was a bit off per say. I don't doubt you got out of a ticket I was just doubting the reasoning on some of it.
