There's a nice sub in Haslet with very large lots, not sure what that area goes for but if you want room and no fences, it was definitely nice. Although I don't know how it is with TMS traffic.
The wife also mentions Keller and Hurst being very nice areas.

'nother vote for Benbrook. North Benbrook is nice older homes, lots of retired AF & GD/Lockheed folks. Cops are redneck enough, but once they get used to seeing a vehicle, it's usually a "slow it down a bit" conversation. Don't know anymore, but lowest crime rate in the metroplex used to bounce between Grapevine & Benbrook..

Another vote for Keller. I work in downtown and my usual commute is around 20-25 minutes, including 10 minutes to get to the highway. If you work regular hours, the drive in is good, and the drive home sucks right now (I take 121 to Davis Blvd, and construction by the mall is tough still. I do not drive 35 under any circumstances. Anything north of 121, after 3:00 PM and that road is a parking lot.)
