Ft. Worth areas?

For the past year, I've been making the Mckinney to Downtown Ft. Worth commute Mon - Thurs and about every other Saturday. I'm beyond tired of it. Outside of the fuel and maintenance cost is the lost time - close to 90 min each way on a good day. Any hiccups and it shoots to 3 hours. Regardless, I lose 3 hours per day, if not more.

So I'm looking to find info on decent areas that are somewhat affordable, kid friendly, nice, etc., and ultimately close to downtown. I'd prefer to be within 1/2 hr, so if I end up working in Arlington or Keller, etc. that I'm still close to things. Country living is fine as well but not sure I want to go as far as Granbury or Joshua.

I live in bedford and can get to most places in under 30 minutes. Great schools, Bedford Boys Ranch is two blocks, lots of food places. Been here 2 years and really like it.

FYI Don't move to south Ft Worth.

HEB or Arlington. Right in the middle of DFW, perfectly affordable, plenty to do. 10 minutes to Fort Worth, 15-20 to Dallas.

I second the mansifield vote. My wife drives to downtown everyday and it only takes her about 20-25 minutes.

Has let, n ftw, and Keller. 35 does get backed up BUT it's around 20 min max from n tarrant to I 30.
