Exactly. It is a buzzword I hear a lot in dialogue with recruiter types.

      Yeah, it's happy-homey-I-want-to-sound-like-I-care-about-you-but-in-reality-you-haven't-replied-to-me-lately-so-I'll-call-you filler.

reach out + touch base = I haven't heard back from you and I'm trying not to call you the no-call-returning-asshole that you really are.

          FYSA

          ALCON

Are just a few of the acronyms and abbreviations that are used constantly in emails with my department. I have a guy that is our Intel analyst that I swear makes up his own shit then tries to make you feel like a tard when you ask him what the fuck.

Then there is the fucksticks in meetings who get upset when they say "good morning" or "how us everyone today?" When the guy before them did the same thing but this one gets butt hurt when nobody responds so they repeat their greeting.

We have a guy in our group that drives us nuts with all sorts of "manager-speak". He's genuinely a very nice guy, but also way too talkative, and has apparently read way too many books on management....so much so that most of the people in our org just think that he's full of shit all the time.

Common phrases (in addition to reach out or back, or "ping" someone)....

            - "We need to huddle on X" ...
            - "Let's all lean-in hard on X...."
            - Something "Coming to fruition"
            - "Let's ensure that we yield a response"
            - "We need to drill down" or sometimes "drill-in"
            - "Leverage our stakeholders"
            - Reference to "core competencies"
            - Something coming to the "End of play"

...and a whole list of others. It's a shame too, b/c the guy is actually pretty smart and he comes up with some good ideas sometimes, but it's like he tries too hard and is usually dismissed by people because of his plastic-like delivery when he's talking. I've even seen some of our upper managers just flat cut him off at times. If he'd just take the mask off and talk like a real person he'd probably be way more respected and successful.
