Drove through the bottom corner on the way to and from the Tetons this past week, and it is far more beautiful than one would think based on the potato infamy. I would live in Idaho Falls in a heartbeat, but that's basically on the backside of the Tetons, so a less expensive version of Jackson.
None of this has anything to do with Boise, as it's on the other side of the state, other than to tell you not to make assumptions or generalizations until you visit.

I have been to Jackson hole and it was really nice. I am going to boise in two weeks to check it out. But was seeing if anybody else had been there.
We used to have DFW direct to BOI. Spent a bunch of nights up there. Love it. I have a few friends that fly for Southwest that live up there. Go north and it is stunning. Plenty to do. The only thing is getting used to the winters. Nothing like shooting off your back porch to a wide open valley!
Idaho is actually a great place to live if you can handle the cold winters.
Two of my Navy buddies were from there and I've been through a few times. It's prettier than you think, and you will have far more freedom in Idaho than you do in Dallas.
I bought my son a map of the national parks this summer and now he wants to go up there to Yellowstone and the Glacier NP.
Yellowstone is a tourist trap, but Glacier is incredible and out of the way enough that it isn't packed. Neither are in Idaho though. I would like to go back and spend more time in Glacier some day.

i hit glacier & Going to the Sun Road the weekend before it closed. Absolutely beautiful, and nobody around. Would do again..
Had an aunt that lived in Pocatello. Tough old gal & she loved Idaho.
My parents have a spare house there, they r driving home next week to avoid the heat here. Its nice, kinda boring, but the white water rapids is fucken insane, one of best in the country. Olympians train there on this one certain river. It doesnt suck unless you like to street race still. Lol
You want to live in Eagle or Meridian, thats the high end places to live there.
