Apparently my next door child hood neighbor and long time friend killed a hooker and buried her at a rent house he had or something like that. I was at the gym one day and a guy ran the story by me. I was like WTF. He did get into some sketchy stuff when we were growing up but nothing to bad. I know I took a hell of a beating one time for sneaking out with him.

My sister was killed in a wreck because the jerk was in a hurry to get home. Passed a 18-wheeler going uphill in a non-passing zone. Sister and Brother-in-law crested the hill... She nor her unborn baby survived. BIL made it, but several had surgeries, steel pins and rehab.
Speers', the driver, trial is this August after getting pushed back several times.
The mechanic for the truck Speers drove that day also got arrested for sending out the truck knowing the brake were bad.

I was channel surfing one day and 48 Hours was doing a story on a guy that was convicted of murdering his wife...and then I noticed it was a guy I hung out with in high school! I was like, WTH! Wow!

I had an acquaintance the Addison AA group years ago - Scott Marshall, who had gotten clean / sober and somewhat putting his life together, but couldn't quit man whoring around in the group, using his money and loud mouth to throw his weight around. There was never any telling what he was going to do or say next.
Anyway he started using all manner of drugs and drinking again and got angry at his ex-law partner's ex-wife and shot her in the face over in Addison Circle in a drug fueled rage, related to her discussing her knowledge of Scott's embezzlement of business money, etc.
You Addison folks may have heard about it a few years back...

My neighbors little brother killed a mother and daughter and put the rest of the family in critical condition one Easter morning drunk as shit doing 100+mph on I-35 in Lewisville. A few weeks earlier we were shooting the shit about cars in my front yard, seemed like a cool enough guy when sober, had a supercharged miata, and a speed 3. Worst part was not only did my neighbor have to deal with his little brother destroying a family and going to prison, the family went to his church. He was fucked up for a good long while.
And more recently a guy I worked with got caught up in meth, lost his job and stabbed a guy to death.
Watched this kid go from a clean cut happy, guy who would do anything for you to a methhead willing to stab a man to death over an argument and a few bucks cash.

Damn. Talk about a sobering discovery (pun not intentional) about a friend. I cant imagine how it would be to go from beginning to get traction in life to jail. Even if he gets parole, his likelyhood of ever having the same quality of life are pretty slim. Companies rarely hire folks with DUIs, let alone folks who have killed people along with that DUI conviction.Comment

Yeah - none of my family has killed anyone yet, but most are constantly in for DUIs.
I'm no angel - but I will call for a ride. I may have driven a few times legally over the limit, but I'd never be doing that at a high rate of speed.
When I did do that, I'd use the shadow test. When taking a leak, if your shadow does not move all is good. If it does move, but you can stop it easily - then it's time to go. If you keep going and the shadow is swaying and not really controllable - better call someone, take a ride from a friend or sleep it off in the car.Originally posted by MR EDDComment

Yes, he was driving, working actually. And it seems that he was driving a commercial vehicle that had faulty brakes as well as speeding.
