Brent - If you give me the specs on the hydraulic cylinders you need, I may be able to get you a price (at cost) on them from my brother's company. They have a full hydraulics shop where they make them from scratch, to spec, with fully computerized lathes and whatnot. May be able to save you some monies..

No guarantee but if you have the time, it's worth a shot.

My guess is that I would need the fitting sizes, pressure tolerances, lengths (fully extended, fully collapsed, and static) and mounting requirements.

May be a bit overkill, but as I said, the savings may be worth a couple of emails..

Iv rebuilt a ton of hyd cylinders and most if them are simple and straight forward. Measure the piston rod with a micrometer the entire length to see if its worn in one spot more than the rest. pitting/rust=trash it. The only ones I've had an issue with are the telescoping ones with welded plug ends.

Thanks all. I'm waiting for a lift pump, fuel filter, and some glow plugs to show up, and I'm headed back up there to put them on and pull the cylinders. Tractor is a 78 IH 384. The cylinders are for a Massey Ferguson loader, not sure whic model. I took a pic of the data plate but it looks like one of my kids deleted it.

Tyrone Biggums, depending on where you're at, for the AC stuff TTAC in Mesquite may be able to beat Stuart Hose. We do business with both of those companies and we never get fittings from them because of the price differential. They can build/rebuild AC lines as well. Here's the info I have for them in my system.

You can also try Bailey cylinders, good for the ag market and about the cheapest you can get for decent quality.

Usually with ag cylinders if it is more than a seal kit it may not be worth rebuilding. By the time you take it too and from the shop and have them fix it the cost may be more than a new cylinder.
