I left my house at 6:30 this morning, made it past Canton around 9:30, where it started clearing up. Got a phone call at 10:45, and had to turn around and come back through it. Right now all the major highways are fine, but slushy in places, overpasses suck, feeder roads are marginal, and neighborhood roads blow ass.

I'm in Allen and when I walked outside and checking out the road it was still solid ice at about 2pm.

I just called and told my boss that all of the schools around us were closed, the roads were all ice, and I didn't feel comfortable driving my pickup with bald tires and no weight over the rear end 20 miles each way. He sounded a bit aggravated (I'm sure I'm not the only one that called in today !) but just said "Ok, we'll see you tomorrow." Yeah, we'll see about that.

as i said in another thread. there are some roads in the lewisville area that are almost impassable. some can't get up their slanted driveways in my neighborhood. and with a wind chill of -1 at the moment. things arent going to get any better anytime soon.

Craig took the kids out in the Bronco to get out of the house. We thought it wouldn't be that bad since our street looks really clear. He said that was the ONLY street like that and everywhere else was covered in ice.

He did get to go mudding in the newly lifted truck with big tires on it, though so he was happy.

The stretch from Richardson to McKinney then over to Frisco was by far the worst of all of it.

I'm only 4 miles from work but the roads were pretty bad and I had a few moments of fishtailing in the new 5.0. The worst was coming home this evening and trying to traverse the hill up to my apartments.
