In the past, a director-level position did no day-to-day ops, but focused entirely on management of his or her team's output, forecasting, strategic planning, and controlling overruns, but nowadays a director level position will be no different than your average worker bee. I should know, i was a "sales director" in charge of 3 employees: Me, myself, and I

Bullshit. For a company that turns $57 billion in revenue, there are better ways to cut $40k, instead of destroying employee morale.
And if free utensils and coffee make up the employees morale...there are bigger issues. I've been through cuts and fat spending both...as long as I keep getting checks, patent bonuses and merit based awards...I'm motivated.

Had one guy who complained a little too loud about being bored because he didn't have enough to do.
*blammo* Now he has been freed up to find something.Last edited by Binky; 07-11-2014, 01:36 PM.

What kills me is seeing the "new initiatives" that roll out. You know the firm just paid some consultants $XXX Millions to implement a new tool or process, that really doesn't improve anything and is replaced in 2 years. Or they are determined to make it work, so after about 24 software versions (after going live), they kind of sorta haphazardly make it work.
I've been in a management roll in the firm I'm with for awhile and its really funny. I work with a bunch of smart people but you have the corporate cool-aide drinkers that can't see the forest for the trees. They just blindly adopt something without asking if it makes sense for the team/office/project etc. If it doesn't increase efficiency or add transparency then why do it.

My company did the same thing, our one office (200~ employees) were spending $35,000 on coffee. We didn't get an admin though, we actually RIF'd people.
I understand the company profit vs different orgs and the amount of revenue they generate. My company posts large profits most of the time but my org specifically of 20,000 people is definitely not the bread and butter of the company, so we pay.
We pay to the point I for the first time in nearly 8 years have started looking elsewhere.Originally posted by Cmarsh93zDon't Fuck with DFWmustangs...the most powerfull gang I have ever been a member of.
