You would fit right in down here in that monkey suit. I wear $20 pants from Sam's.

I love my job; it really is different (right now). We're growing quickly though. The last company I worked for was cool for the first 2-3 years, and then they got bigger, went public, and it turned into ALL the bad shit you guys are talking about. This one still rocks, so I'm enjoying the ride. The biggest perk (besides the pay) is that they hire people with talent and experience, and then turn us loose. No metrics, quotas, daily activity requirements, etc. They trust us and let us work how we want to work. As long as the end result is good, we're all making money. That concept really motivates most of us and certainly makes me want to work harder when I'm not forced to do things like a robot because someone else decided what the best practices should be across the board. The last place started hiring doofuses, and they had to start putting a bunch of guidelines in place, and next thing you know, the company as a whole was catering to the lowest common denominator. It only takes a few doofuses to start ruining it for everyone.

GuideIT is Perot Systems 3.0. MFICs are Scott Barnes, Russell Freeman, and a couple other senior Perot people that I can't think of right now.

I know, Tim Morris is the other.

my boss used to report directly to Tim before he left. This is their first ITO customer, everything else has been staffing to this point. The Perot Group dumped a bunch of cash into GuideIT a few months ago, I knew this kind of thing would be coming.

Sounds like you're talking about county where you can get elected to a 6 figure gig and hire someone to do all your work for you except for voting.

                      • We have to buy our own coffee but it's a price worth paying to not have to hear corporate management jargon.

                        Strychnine's post made me cringe.

                          • I have been telecommuting for the past 11 years and counting. No one I work with is local and there is no need or allowance for me to travel. While I don't miss the traffic, I do miss the relationships I once had and the occasional after work get together. I am almost a year into this position and it has been the most rewarding of my career, but there are things I miss.

I did a year remote, and still do one or two days a week. But I like going in the office and seeing people
