I am way more of a community oriented cop. I don't believe in breaking it off in my citizens, it's just not a good long term strategy. There are plenty of shitty folks that are beyond help to deal with. I leave way more of my contacts a day with a positive feeling about police then a negative, even the people I have to arrest I treat well. I want people to get it's not personal, even if they are MF'ing me.

So you agree that you would not stand for someone deciding that you were going to blow in a machine or they were going to forcefully draw blood. Good deal. No officer should agree to this, not if they take their oath seriously.I wear a Fez. Fez-es are cool

Since you are more likely to be killed by a drink driver, than murdered, I would rather the po po get the drunks off the road. Cops have a better chance of keeping me from being killed but arresting DWI's than stopping homicides. Most murders occur between people that know each other. Drunks just kill random people.
I have a friend that is a prosecutor in North Texas. One of his major cities has no refusal 24/7 365. He says the AVERAGE BAC on blood draws is .18. I asked how many came in below .08. He told me he has seen a COUPLE, but drugs were a factor in those cases. He said that 99% of the blood cases PLEAD GUILTY. No trial.
So, I'm on favor of the program. It's 2014 folks, how the hell do you not understand not to drink and drive.

The local police are actually very limited to where they can set up these checkpoints. If local LEO's we're permitted to set these up at locations of their choice, the jails would be full before the sun went down.
Chances are the same people bitching about this violating their rights would bitch about the cops not doing enough when they're t-boned by a drunk or uninsured driver.
Besides, anyone out driving around the metroplex after sundown on a summer holiday weekend is not putting their safety as a priority anyway. I would suggest staying home, not because of the cops "out to get you", but because of the drunks that flood the roads.

As to my opening post, I am not against the police pulling over drunk people. I have even called the police while following someone that can't stay on the road. That person was blasted and fell out of his truck when asked to get out.
I do feel uneasy about forcing people to give blood. The penalty to refuse to blow could still be increased to be a big fine with the loss of DL.
I am whole heartily against stopping every X number of cars, to have a conversation with someone to see if you can give them a ticket for something.
I would like to see statistics on number of people stopped, number of arrests for DWI, number of tickets for other infractions. The money maker is the last one.class joke
