lost wallet - leaving for road trip - CHL and DL?

  • lost wallet - leaving for road trip - CHL and DL?

    My luggage was lost on Friday afternoon - my wallet and car keys were in the lost bag. I'm still hopeful that it is going to show up but am growing more skeptical as time passes.

    I'm supposed to be leaving early Monday morning for a family camping trip to NM and then CO.

    I use mostly cash - so I'm not going to miss the credit/debit cards too much.

    What about my drivers license and CHL. Should I travel that far without them. In texas I can legally have the handgun in the car without chl - what about in NM and Colorado. What about in a National Park in CO? If it is legal in the car without CHL is it legal in the camper without CHL

    We can use my wifes ID to check in at the campgrounds - but I'll do most of the driving especially with the popup behind the truck. If I get stopped do you think most cops would be ok with my story and license number....

    Otherwise - what is the best/fastest way to replace this stuff. Any one day option and we could leave Tuesday?

    Before somebody asks "What was your wallet doing in your luggage?" I was a volunteer chaperon at kids camp last week. No use for cash or etc. all week so I stuffed it in my suitcase when I got to camp last Monday. Somehow my bag didn't make it back yesterday.... Maybe still on the charter bus.

    Hopefully you find it and it all works out.

    I still carry my wallet and keys. I feel naked if I don't have them on me at all times outside of the house.

        Go online for the CHL. Dl go into an office for a paper one and then wait for both to be mailed.

          Too risky for me. No ID and a handgun? To me that's just asking for bad things to happen especially going out of state. Seems like every time I leave the state I get the "extra" long stare from the police. I'm guessing because of the Texas plate.

                  Actually don't carry all the time - but usually do when traveling, especially in remote areas. Instead of minutes away police might be an hour away - after you drive an hour to an area with cell reception to call them.
