Too late brother it is already under the knife and they better be gentle. Thanks though.

        Diminshed value

You won't be able to file a diminished value claim on a first party loss--sorry.

Why can't you stipulate this? If they are going to charge you for it, they had better fukking do it!

I am sure that the body shop gives the Geico rep a kickback for over repairing jobs like this. The gal works out of the body shops location. I can just imagine the amount of flag hours these two mechanics are going to get off of my repair.

The other thing that ticks me off is the Carfax in the future is going to list "accident: frame replaced". My trade in will be worth FUCKING ZERO at that point. The gal even said that book on the truck is $12,000 and the $4,500 did not come close to totaling it out. I wished they would have just killed it cause I don't want it back now.

To top it off I can not be mad at my wife: it was MY idea to drive my truck and she feels like complete shit because she knows how much my paid for truck ment to me.
most likely they are going to go with a "used" frame, and if they get it from somewhere like us (and they probably will) they are going to receive a stripped to the bone frame, and will have to transfer all of your lines and bushings over to the new/used frame....

Wow, I never in a million years would have guessed that the entire frame had to be replaced for that! Wow!

When they get wadded up so much, a "good" repair cant be made, its definitely worth replacing the frame. Anything can be straighten, but the frame was probably so wadded up, that the next hit on that rail wont sustain the impact as well as it did the first time. Its a safety thing.

It is fucking me is what it is. The Geico claims adjuster works out of the bodyshop (she has a office right there). I call that a conflict of interest that is HURTING my interest.

The difference between "replaced front bumper and repaired bumper mount" and "replaced frame" has to be HUGE when it comes time to trade the truck in and the Carfax is pulled.

I wanted to keep this truck for another 5 years now that it is paid for (next month's payment). Now with so many parts and peices being pulled off and reinstalled I can see a lifetime of problems that they will always have an answer for and the end result is "not our fault". With that said all I want to do is get the truck back and get rid of it hence why the Carfax and the future diminished value is so important to me.

I think the claims adjuster is getting a kick back from the body shop for authorizing a frame replace vs repair. Tomorrow I am having someone get me more pictures of the original frame to compare.

As soon as the truck is done, SELL IT. It will never be the same. My pops did a frame replacement on a Silverdado several years ago and only a few people can do it right (no one else in the shop he worked at wanted that job).

The problem is that a frame replacement has to be disclosed. That and I will not be home until June at best but more than likely September. I am not looking forward to owning a truck that had every nut and bolt unscrewed, every fuel and brake line undone, every wiring harness unclipped.

I am already looking for a replacement but the dealer is gonna know and therefore my trade in is gonna be shit.

                        Fuck it.

You know the history, you know it won't be worth squat, so keep it and enjoy a paid off truck. If you get it back and it dog tracks (drives canted), then take it back until the shop can get it right. Make a stink with the insurance company and maybe they will get tired of you and total it.

Oh that will be me. I am still gonna play the "your adjuster and that body shop overworked the job and it ain't right" angle.

My brother is going to get some pics tomorrow and I will have a better idea of what it really looks like.

Meanwhile Sewell in Dallas has a nice all black 2008 Excursion with all the bells and whistles for a little over $20,000. If DiAnn won't let me get the 911 convertible because of "kid seats will not fit" argument I can get a bigger truck. lol

They should've just totaled it for being "economically unrepairable". I know we've done it on vehicles that haven't quite hit that total loss %, but because of the specific type of damage, we'll total it.

that is kind of what I was thinking they would do when she said "needs a frame". She laughed when she said "oh, it takes an act of congress to total a truck in Texas." She said the value of the truck is around $12,000.

That would be a nice down payment on a truck I wouldn't want to get rid of.
