Portlandia is hilarious BTW. They poke fun at the whole culture there and from what I hear it is pretty accurate.
I gathered this as well from the show. Portlandia is great.

I dated a girl in Austin and spent many weekends there, nearly moved. But I agree with what he said. Fuck Austin, and most of the people there.

Portland and Austin are very similar, but the pretentiousness in Austin is way higher... I always felt that the people I interacted with in Portland were much more sincere. In Austin you have people that go out their way to put on a show about being what ever the flavor of the month is...only to go get in their leased X5, and drive back to their $700k loft at the end of the day. Portland is a really cool city, and if you are into camping, hiking, fishing etc. etc. etc., that part of the country is hard to beat.

The traffic in Austin is horrible, even on a Saturday its a nightmare getting around downtown, and then when you think you are free, there will be a kite festival or some shit going on, and they will have the road closed.

I love Austin, and go down there quite a bit, just the outdoors stuff to do outside of the city is worth it. I think the hill country is some of the prettiest parts of this state.

            Mostly spot-on.

Austin drivers are worse than a million teens texting while driving in north Dallas in pouring down fucking rain...

You couldn't pay me enough to move back to that place today.
What do you think he is wrong on? I know Matt would agree with every bit of that after his stint in Austin. I think it's spot on.

I enjoy visiting there. A weekend at a time. I don't know that I could live there, though.

                  "they have whiskey-infused bacon!”

Of course he is right about the heat and traffic. Those things make Austin suck just as much as they do DFW and Houston.

But holy shit - he's bitching about whiskey bacon and a pun-off? What a crybaby, buzzkilling, little bitch!

I mean, it sounds like he just wants to take the pun out of everything.

Oh I do too, it's expensive, but well worth it to me. I haven't driven through Austin since they built that damn thing. And no one uses it, so cruising at 90 is bad ass...
