[QUOTE=Super Coupe;1327993]The cop that shot these peoples dog was fired and they are pressing charges on the officer for animal cruelty last time I heard.

To serve and protect became invade and attack by Rains County Deputy Jerred Dooley ID #510

Different story. My question was what do you do? You can't draw down on the idiot that shot your dog like you usually can, he's not going to bury your dog, you're not going to get an apology.

Scenario: Cop pulls up to ask directions, my spaniel wanders out there to meet him. Cop puts a bullet in him and claims the dog charged him. Then what? Do I call the police department and say what? What is my legal remedy in this matter?

Seems pretty much that you're out there digging the hole for your best friend, in the heat, and in my case, while holding a cane and dealing with a TBI while sir douche cop drinks a coke and goes on to his next stop.

Editors note: Notice that I have not yet started in on "I would shoot him in the face with a high powered rifle."

Or, if you want to one-up them, their kid. j/k

Probably exactly what this guy is doing. Lawyer up and keep pressing the issue. With the Rains County incident, we saw that when there is enough public backlash, it is possible for a cop to be fired in disgrace. Which is a good start.

So when did cops become pussies? Do they not have dogs themselves? And I guess no fucking common sense on how to back away from a dog? And lets face it, 99% of dogs on this earth has one sole devilish mission, to lick you to death.

See, in that one the cop hung around. In this one, he shot the dog and took off. Looks like the only way to handle this is attach a huge ass price sticker to family pets and if a cop kills one, it comes out of his personal pocket.

That's a beautiful looking pup there. I thought it was a pitbull at first.

No you wouldn't as it would go something like this:

"Tonight's report from Dallas Police Department is that while investigating suspicious activity around a local resident's home, officers came under fire from the homeowner. The Dallas Police Chief goes live with us in just a moment but the report released is that the officers were investigating a suspicious person around a residence when a man came around a corner and opened fire on them.

One officer was killed and the other wounded. Dallas SWAT was called in and during what some have called a very one sided firefight, the house became engulfed in flame. The DPD has stated that they suspect the individual could have been a dealer in methamphetamine which would explain the reaction to peace officers and the immolation of the residence."

No report of cop killing dog, no admission of wrong doing, just death for the pet owner and possibly his home being destroyed if he didn't stand there and let them shoot him back.

There are times when trespassing may be necessary, and law enforcement should have the utmost care of any such trespasser. I've walked into a yard to find 6 or 7 Weimaraner puppies, cute as hell and swarming all over me. However, instinctively I was curious if there was a mother around, and soon I had my answer. Charging out of the house, a big ass pissed off Weimaraner quickly cornered me, but luckily I had something to feed it in my hand. By feed it, I mean shove it between me and the dogs' chompers. Then slowly back out of that yard. That thing was out for blood. I was in fear of my safety no doubt, but I could never harm an animal that was just doing what was natural.

Training and common sense. This is the perfect opportunity for law enforcement to police their own and have zero tolerance for derelict of duty. Otherwise they're just continuing to lose respect with the public every such incident.

That's a great breed for property defense, trust me!
