We had top grain leather with two miniature schnauzers and it held up pretty well. I think there was one noticeable scratch after 3 years. Then we got two dobies, and the couches were trashed.

We let our dogs play anywhere they want. It may sound stupid, but its their house too. Hell, they are there more than we are.

Our new couches are some durable cloth. I don't remember the fabric, but they have held up good for a couple of months abuse.

We trained one of ours to only get on the couch when a blanket was on it. The other two where a lost cause.

Either way, its all borrowed time at those numbers.

Sweet, I'll take this into account if I want to get my couch into the 9's

I've had leather my whole life. Cat never gives me an issue. Dog isn't allowed on the furniture.

                    Sounds like a party.

My dog doesn't get on furniture, she knows better and sits on the floor with the kids.

DJ, stop fucking up the internets.

My old border collie was very rarely allowed on the furniture. I allow the BC puppy I rescued late last year up to sit with me a few times a day, but she only gets up with a person, and never tries to get up on any of the furniture on her own. Within 5 minutes of bringing her home I had literally taken my eyes off her for five seconds, turned around, and she was standing on the couch looking at me. LOL I yelled at her to get down and pointed at the floor, she did immediately, and never tried again. Sometimes you just have to work with a dog for awhile and sometimes they get it right away.

True dat! I'll never own another breed. I like heelers a lot and a few other medium size breeds, but BC's are just so fucking awesome. Tons of personality, sharp, and sweethearts.

Leather is a great choice IMO. It doesnt retain any smells from pets and it's easy as hell to keep clean and maintain. No worries about spills or hair shedding.

They are an awesome breed. That was the breed I had growing up. That dog would play all day.
