I just did one for my Dad's place a few weeks back. We did it ourselves. The damn estate sale people want 40% of everything and I couldn't afford to give up that much. It was a lot of work to organize and price everything but it came out better than expected

I never find any cool estate sales, its always stuff like this. A lot of old people collect anything that was ever produced from the 80's-present that was advertised as "limited edition" bullshit that have no actual value. All kinds of faux antiques and collectibles and stuff no one wants unless its more elderly people collecting the same stuff.

Actually, I did get to go to one EPIC estate sale. An ad in CL was "House full of tools". I took off work to go to it. Obviously an old bachelor. The whole house was still styled from the 70's. He had a huge vise on a stand in the middle of his kitchen. Tools were all over the living room furniture. Bedrooms full of car mags, parts, tools, you name it. He worked at an auto accessories business in Dallas in the 70's. Lots of old A/C parts. Lot's of old nasty porn too. I saw stuff I wanted to bleach my eyes afterward. A 1960's Norton Atlas in pieces but complete. ( I just missed it for $100). The daughter hired an estate seller to handle it, but it was clear they were not prepared for what they walked in on. I made a couple of trips and a day later I heard the daughter had hired someone to just clear it all out to the dump. I arrived and this old dude had a dump truck and a shovel and he and his wife were carrying every thing out of the house. I made a deal I would help him haul some heavy stuff out if he let me pick through. I hauled home a huge load and sold most of it.
