We'll be hanging out in front of G&M cabins for the 4th parade. I'll have my 4yo put a sign around her neck that says "DFWmustangs rocks your fucking face off", so you'll know us when you see us.

We have friends who'll be in Crested Butte that week as well, and since their 4th parade doesn't happen until the afternoon, we may do both, if the bloody mary's & assorted libations don't ground us.

It's crazy how many Texans (and Oklahomans) fill up these little towns in the summer.
Ronald Reagan:"Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it."

Homer: "Bart...there's 2 things I know about women. Never give them nicknames like "jumbo" or "boxcar" and always keep receipts...it makes you look like a business man."

We'll have to stop and say hi, at least. Are you staying in those cabins? Last time we watched the parade we were in front of the Hensen Creek RV park, right down the street. That's where we usually go for showers.

I actually tried finding a spot to camp in town for the 4th so we could stay for the fireworks but the stuff in town is booked up.

I called the visitor's office yesterday to check on the parade start time and was told 10:00AM.. Yikes. Didn't remember getting there that early last time.

I was thinking about just jumping in the parade for the hell of it. Tape a sign on the doors that says something like "Texans that Love Lake City". lol

we got heree RIGHT after everybody was cleared to return... we missed the entire fire debacle. The only thing we had to contend with was some poor air quality due to ash, but it didn't effect us in any way that we could tell

the fires backed right up to our old cabin, but thankfully Creede and South Fork were spared

That's good.. I was looking at camping at the Sand Dunes park on the way out but I guess they have a number of their primitive sites closed due to the fire damage. They still have 20 or so spaces open but being first come first, right before the holiday weekend, I fear that nothing would be open for us.

A couple of pics from the LC 2012 parade..

About to start, the "Town Crier":

That was the Declaration of Independence he was carrying. After the parade he does a reading of it in the park. Very cool.

I think this was my favorite vehicle:

Haha.. Thinking about it, not sure if I have or not. The only "foreigners" I have clearly noticed are the exchange students they employ at Poker Alice's.

Most people we have interacted with there are Texans who summer there. As I'm sure you know, pretty much all of the tourist related service business are run by, if not owned by Texans.
