  • Anyone with a RCSB silverado?

The dime will pass 200k miles this week or next. I am, again, toying with the idea of a new truck. It would be nice to not leave oil everywhere I go, or have to manually roll the windows down. I found, what I think is a good deal on a 2009 RCSB work truck. Pw/pl with the 4.8L. I know the 5.3 is the more desirable engine, though it seems they are harder to find in the regular cab.

If you have a RCSB with the 4.8 what is your real world fuel milage (please include driving amount city/hwy %). I get 22-24 in the s-10 right now.

I had a RCSB 5.3l Z71 last summer/fall and I loved it. I'm not sure what the fuel mileage was exactly, but I remember being pleased with how little it used. Find the 5.3l if you can. It would really get up a go, even with all of the 4x4 stuff.
It sank to the frame in quicksand type stuff over in lake Ray Roberts. I was just cruising and purposely avoiding any and all mud, and suddenly it just sank the entire front end. 3 lifted 4x4s and 1 AWD van later, it was out.

The 5.3l is totally worth it, but I haven't been able to find another one that originally came with one, or a swapped one for a fair price. The Z71 was awesomely cheap fun and served as my snowpocalypse transportation.

You will not get the mileage of the s10 thats for sure, but 2wd can be had cheap vs 4wd.

I get 20-22 mpg @70 mph with 25/75 city/hwy mileage mix per tank. 01 1500 scsb with 4.8 310k miles that is stock other than a K&N air intake, cats removed and a 93 tune. I drive 110 miles round trip to work every day.
Im selling this truck and going back to driving a Duramax diesel daily.

If I had the cash I would be interested! 20-22 MPG would be doable for me. I know I wont get the same mileage as the S-10 I am driving now, but if I can get close, I can make it work.

If this truck had stock wheels and brakes instead of 22's and 15" brakes it would get 2-3 mph better.

Try to find one of those Regency trucks from the early 00's with a 4.8/5 speed.

I use to have one. Looking to pick up another, but will probably stick with extended cab this time.

This is what I am afraid of. 90% of my driving is interstate/highway. The other 10% is spent tooling around the subdivision from job to job.

I went by to look at the truck tonight but I couldn't find it. I searched both of their lots. Not sure if it sold, or if it made its way to another one of their dealerships.
