  • Prostitution Arrests.

Here's a subject ripe for some commentary. I've been screwing around with insurance companies all day, and have been trying to find a copy of, or if one was even filed, the report on my accident back in 2001. I've mostly got that solved, but while perusing the Arlington website I came across this:

Why do they have a special page dedicated to this? Trying to publicly shame people for needing a piece of ass? If they wanted to do that they could have just brought up the member picture thread from this site and saved themselves some trouble! But seriously, I know mugshots are public domain and they get posted all the time, but wouldn't you rather have a special list of rapists and murders than a bunch of people trying to get their pork sword serviced on their lunch break? Who gives a fuck? Why are these people being singled out?

Pretty sure it was actually meant to be shaming. They launched it a year or two prior to the new Stadium opening, in an effort to make Arlington seem like a nice place.

What's really funny is that street used to be a hotbed for street racing; oddly enough I was involved in some festivities at that location in the very vehicle that would later be my undoing. Which is what brought me to that link to begin with. The Universe is odd sometimes.

Poor Joyce doesn't look too happy. I honestly don't think this is very productive. Humiliation is rarely an effective method of punishing someone. All it does is breed resentment and anger.

So only 32 people for arrested in January. Sounds kind of low to me. BTW how do online site that have prostitutions, back pages, eccie, Craigslist, etc., get away with it?

Because they don't actually break the law.

They don't advertise a prostitute, they advertise someone performing a legal service. What that person does outside of the advertisement is not the knowledge or liability of the publication.

Taking a step further - lets say a guy posts an ad for some furniture. Someone shows up to buy it and is then murdered by the guy who turns out to be a serial killer. Is that publication liable? (no) Do they have a legal responsibility to vet everyone that posts an advertisement that they are 100% accurate and truthful? (no) They just offer a forum for a small fee and then what happens afterwards is not their concern.

You can't take someone to court based on "well, you KNOW what they are doing" - truth is, you don't. You THINK you do, but legally you have no idea.

That's no bullshit. Public record is one thing, traipsing people out like this is a surefire way to make people uncooperative for life. Ridicule is a good tool to get people to change their ways, only if used correctly.
