  • Help me understand something.

Sooo, I was looking at THIS thread, and went to the story HERE and was reading through the comments when I came across someone who had their job listed as "CEO of Household Operations."

When did some people come to the realization that calling themselves a housewife, or a stay at home mom wasn't "important" enough? they had to become a "CEO" or some other made up title in order to make themselves feel better about the choices they've made.

Maybe I'm over thinking it, maybe it's some "participation award" type scenario. I haven't decided yet.

    Discuss.

        Everyone wants to be somebody.
A lot of people define themselves by their titles, possessions, and accomplishments. If you feel your "list" isn't prestigious enough and don't get a feeling of worth from other people, then create your own sense of value with made up shit so you can sleep better at night.

Or it's very tongue-in-cheek. Could go either way.

Most people I talk to have nothing but good things to say about you, but you sure come across as a condescending prick. Do you have an inferiority complex you've attempted to overcome through overachievement? Or were you fondled as a child?

You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.

I've seen it more than once, and I'm still not quite sure if it is or not. Like I said, maybe I'm over thinking it.

This saddens me. Not just the topic at hand, but a lot of people externalize their self worth, and it's a shame, IMO.

It's MORE disturbing that you're bothered by somebody who chose to label themselves in a clever way. Sounds like you need to get out more.

                            Clever? Hardly. Bothered? Not likely.
