I have no idea what the tint is on my front windows on my truck are (definitely not 5%) but it used to always fail come inspection time. For the past few years I've just been shopping around till I find a shop that will pass it. My Lincoln on the other hand is 35% and it's definitely not light enough for my liking. Never been pulled over for tint though.

I have super dark tint on my car on all the side windows and my windshield is tinted all the way not just a strip . I have never been pulled for it and have only had one cop say anything about it . I don't have to have mine inspected but this is not the first car I have had this way and I have never been ticketed . I always say a ticket is cheaper then new interior and I will pay if I get popped .

I had a BMW that had limo all the way around, and I hated driving it at night. My truck was pretty dark on the front two, and limo over the factory smoked glass on the rear doors and back window, and it's pretty dark. The front two faded out, and I had them retinted to (what I assume is) 35%. I would like it a bit darker, until the sun goes down.

Yep.. If they can do it on glasses, why not auto-glass.

I do believe they do it for cops to be able to see in.

A rear view camera helps a lot when backing up with dark windows.
you know there's these really cool things that hang off of your doors with a reflective surface in them.. if your windows are dark as fuck you cant see out of the side mirrors unless you roll the windows down.

I had 3% all around on my tbird until a motorcycle cop saw me one day on the way to work. It lasted for about a year before I got pulled over for it. Pain in the ass if you ask me having to rip off 150$ worth of tint to avoid a 180$ ticket.

I never understood the point of super-dark tint. I have 30 all the way around and it keeps me from being blinded from behind by modern headlights.

Bonus, I can see out of the damned thing.

And of course, the rule still stands: If your car was made with chrome window trim, don't tint the glass!

Headlights never bothered me, but dark tint helps even more with the glaring sun and heat. Plus, it keeps knuckleheads from peeking through the window to see if there's anything inside that they want to steal. Plus, it adds privacy. Plus, it looks cool.

Is there a late model exemption? Leah's TL has chrome trim and tint.

I don't know if my eyes are light sensitive, but it seems like I've always wanted things really dark. I wear sunglasses if I am outdoors, and have completely limo tinted several vehicles. The '13 is a little lighter than straight limo, but it is close. My house does pretty well on electric bills, but I still had solar screens put in and keep most of the blinds closed during the day to keep it dark and cave like inside. As Jared said, I also like the privacy in the car, and I also think dark tint makes a car look better from the outside, so it's pretty much all positives as far as I'm concerned.
