Tonsils Removed

Any of you guys had your Tonsils removed as an adult? If so how bad was it?

Had it done when I was ~20 or so.

Sucked. Real bad.

Bad on day 1. Better on day 2, thinking, "hey, i got this." Days 3-4 made me want to die. Days 5+ got better and better.

Hindsight says pros>cons, but on day 3 when I was awake at 3am after sleeping with my mouth open and trying to choke down a liquid painkiller and felt like my throat was being ripped apart by tiny samurai warriors...

I had mine out when I was 30 and it sucked. I had a bunch of other work done at the same time to alleviate sleep apnea but man, the pain in my throat was the most annoying.

Im glad mine was done as a kid. Everyone i know as an adult hated life.

How long were you fellas out of work for?

I was in college at the time and did it over a break. I'd say you'll be down for a week though, and probably still somewhat uncomfortable the after that.

Don SVO's wife had it done a couple of months ago and she was pretty damn miserable. I would like to get it done as well, but probably won't. They've been acting up a lot the last few years and it is annoying as hell(bring on the jokes).

Whatever you do, don't look at it post-op with a flashlight until it is healed.

Don SVO's wife had it done a couple of months ago and she was pretty damn miserable. I would like to get it done as well, but probably won't. They've been acting up a lot the last few years and it is annoying as hell(bring on the jokes).

My old lady had it done three years ago, she said she rather give birth again. She was in pain for a week and the worst part is eating. She had gotten an infection which made the heeling take longer.

I had it done around 18... It was the suck, I lost nearly 20lbs over 2 weeks. The good was going from getting really bad colds/strep multiple times a year to never really getting sick, and when I do its not bad at all.

My wife just had hers done in December. It was hell on earth. Nothing easy or nice to say about it. Be sure there is no alternative. It does get better....eventually

I was down for 2 weeks but I also had a UPPP, adnoidectomy, turbinate reduction, and they un-deviated my septum all in the same surgery.
