Looking for ideas on tool boxes. I need 8 roll around tool boxes. I'm on the fence regarding a stainless steel top or wood, I’m leaning towards wood though. 52" long is about the size I would want. All the boxes will have a standard set of tools that will be inventoried at the beginning and end of each day.

maybe like this, but in blue

I'd rather not pay a Snap-On guy $10k a pop for a decent box, anyone ever had one custom built? Got any contacts for someone who can?

I want my shop to have that 'Wow' factor when customers/visitors walk in. I'm installing new lighting, new floors, fresh paint, speed doors, etc. Still haven't made up my mind on lifts/pits.

I would imagine you could get one hell of a deal from a snap on dealer if you buy 8 boxes at the same time.

That's a big box. Lots of good reviews but only a 90 day warranty on a HF. We had the smaller 56" box in our shop up north and it was junk after a year of use/abuse.

I got a good deal on my Snap-On box but had some rebates and a good trade in on my Matco box. He also threw in a metal top (not pictured)

I forget the dimensions but it's huge and holds a ton of tools.

I prefer Matco over snap on tool boxes. Get with your local tool truck and see if he has any trade in's.

I bought that same box in orange for $3500 off of my local tool truck. My dealer could probably do a great deal on them for you.

I've had mine for 5-6 years. It's a little dinged up because I'm constantly dragging it with a tug running from hangar to hangar. The drawers locks don't stay shut anymore so I can't park it on a slope (it does however still lock with the key) the friction locks are just screwed. The "higher" end harbor freight boxes have plastic sliding locks for each drawer just like the big brands. A guy I work with has the big harbor freight box and he put snap on badging on it lol. Maybe I'm just a cheap ass but I think snap on only sells boxes because they take payments. I bet they wouldn't sell hardly any of them if it wasn't for the "low" payments. F that. I'll just buy a new box every 10 years. Also the guys with the high end boxes are always getting upset when the get a scratch or dent in their box... geez

And having 8, 10k dollar boxes rolling around your shop might make people think you charge too much. Eh. maybe I'm wrong...

Well, I've been promoted and will be overseeing the launch of a new program. I work for Navistar/International Truck who also owns IC Bus. We build school buses, among other types of buses, at our assembly plant in Tulsa OK. International has been in a pickle the last two years but we are slowly coming back to profitability.
