I'm showing up either way. How much snow are they even calling for in North TX?

Yep. We will have 20-30 mph winds and blowing snow with 2-4 ft drifts for the morning drive

I'm on the road all week. Tyler, Texarkana, and Waco. I thought I'd get clever, and swap a couple of my days around to avoid the worst of it, but no dice. Apparently even Waco is supposed to get hit hard with this.

Eh I will show up either way just to keep from killing the OT.. I can do some work from home but not enough to justify billing the 8 hrs.

I drive 40+ miles the past 3-4 big ice storms we have encountered. Drive slow, take your time, and you will be fine.

People take advantage of these days and it irritates me. Last year we had a guy call in on a "forecasted icy day". He said he was stuck in his garage cause of the ice, well, that day it was 65 degrees.

If I can drive 40 miles and be in my car for an hour and a half to two hours, you sure as hell can do it too.

Was it 10 years ago...ice storm socked the metroplex, 1-2 inches of ice. People were stuck their cars overnight in "the canyon" other highways around downtown Dallas.

The last truly shitty one I remember, was the one on Thanksgiving. We had 5 people, in a 92 Honda Accord, and took us 19 hours to get back to DFW from Vernon. The infamous Leon Lett incident.

There was one about 7 years ago. Maybe that is what you are thinking of. I had to spend a few nights in downtown Dallas. Couldn't get in or out of Downtown.

I remember that one. Me, the kiddo, and ex-wife has three stops that day. Had no issues. That icing was thick too!

Yes, 2003. I spent the night on I-20 that night because of highway shut downs.

I just Googled and found a storm in 1999, which would been about right as I was living in near downtown Fort Worth. Another in 2005...can't remember which year now!
