  • Backyard play sets

I was looking at getting one of these for the kids and wanted to get some feedback on what your experience has been.

I have a 4 year old and a 1 year old so I expect this set to be used for 5 or 6 years. So that being said, I also don't want to spend 4k on a play set that is going to just rot in the texas sun. I am looking at a range of $1k to $1500. Is it too much to expect a used play set to make it for 5 or 6 years? Anyone have a particular brand they have used and like?

    Any input?

I have been watching craigslist. But I am not sure how much of a pain in the ass it is to buy a used one.

Kids will only use it 3 or 4 times then forget about it...CL is your best bet.

I bought ours from Costco. I think it was like $999. Both my kids love to play on it ... we got it for my sons 3rd birthday with the expectation of it lasting long enough for both kids. My son is 5, daughter is 2. The sun definitely beats them down. I put wood protectant on it last year (should have done the same this year). I also check the bolts on occasion. I think it'd be more of a pita taking one down and moving it then just buying new unless someone just gave it to you. It took me a full 8 hours to put it together, of course I did it by myself when it says 2 people required.

I got mine for free.. Just had to move it out of a very small yard/driveway in lakewood and haul it to the lakehouse.

My son loves it but if I were to do it over again I would buy one and pay someone else to set the stupid thing up.
