We're on the fence. We believe in them, but weigh the risk on getting said disease. After our first got sick as a dog after them dumping 4-5 shots at once, we've been choosing as to which we give and only do 1-2 at a time. We hadn't done the MMR, but after the Ohio case surge, that's next on the list.

Your kid getting sick is most likely coincidental, unless your doctor specifically diagnosed it as a bad reaction. As for your personal risk, vaccine programs rely on everyone getting vaccinated. It's called herd immunity. You don't know who you're going to come into contact with, so it's on you to do your part to protect the folks with a compromised immune system.

A lot of the reemergence of diseases we beat back is caused by illegals sneaking across the border already sick. To get a vaccine or not is a personal thing on if you trust someone to inject you with something that you can't verify what it is or what it does and that you may not be okay with the possible side effects.

One of my wife’s clients is a well respected nurse who is involved with cancer treatments. She is also very pro vaccine. The one that she was adamantly against thou was the Gardasil vaccine for the very reasons you mentioned. The vast majority of the cases were illegal’s and she felt that mandating it for everyone was completely un-called for.

This is the way I have always looked at it. You can't judge them all the same.

Who actually asks "Hey, let me read that vial and I need access to your computers to read this barcode to see what it says as well." You're only informed if you're given all the information. I get my shots (the VA does it) and make sure my sons have theirs but I research the hell out of anything they're supposed to have, go over the risks and explain that if the shot harms my child or me, I'll be back up there and I won't be happy.

Sometimes the threat of violence trumps the threat of lawsuit. Insurance companies pay out but a person thinks twice when it's their ass that is held personally liable.

Being in the military, I am basically the government's pin cushion that has no voice in stopping whatever they want to inject in me. Like most military members here, I've gotten Anthrax, small pox, yellow fever, and a bunch of other shit that I'll never need an immunity to. Once I got 5 shots in one sitting and got extremely sick the next day.

We choose to not completely vaccinate our daughters for several reasons, but mostly because we can. Like Sig posted above, vaccinations are full of unsafe by-products that most people don't know about. I don't think it makes me a hippie or one that doesn't care about the health of others, it makes me an god damn American that has the choice of what goes into my body and the bodies of my loved ones.

Well, it can cause medical issues if there is a preexisting condition. Had to get a tetanus shot and it put me in the hospital with a crohn's attack. Last time I take any kind of vaccination unless absolutely necessary. Anyone that has experienced that level of pain would agree with me.
