I'm really tired of hearing about these stories where innocent Americans are brutalized by the pathetic government of that country...I wish we could just bomb them all to hell and end the issue once and for all...but that will never happen. -

That is what I was seeing on Fox also. That is the new sign. The one that was photographed right after this incident is a steel sign resting against that same barrier on the ground. ABout the size of a speed limit sign. It happened once or twice when I was stationed at Fort Bliss in the mid 90's. One was an MP that chased someone from an off post housing area. He was down there for several months before they released him.
I don't think that it is wrong or an abuse for Mexico to hold him. What do you think happens when a Mexican is caught bringing something illegal into the US?
I also find it kind of hard to believe he was not aware he was crossing over. If there is no U turn then just stop your damn car before driving into another country with firearms.Comment
