NTTA Suing the Driver in Irving Bus Crash Over Lost Toll Revenue

So, is this going to set precedent for anybody involved in a wreck on a "private" tollway? The person at fault in the wreck is going to have to pay not only for damages, but lost revenue as well?

The shittiest roads imo are in Oklahoma, where they build roads like legos, and you feel like you're driving across a Roman aqueduct.

Fortunately I haven't had to do too much driving in OK. Mainly only 35 from here to OKC & 40 west of OKC, and their surrounding areas.

The reason why is because Las Colinas used to be a swamp. Many buildings in that area have settlement issues. The south end of the shopping center at the SW corner of 635 and McArthur sank a couple of inches one summer. Also the Lifetime fitness at the SW corner of MacRthur and 114 had to have foundaion repairs three times, for a while the front doors could barely be opened.

I ate at the Pho place in that shopping center (south end) last week and they were redoing the whole parking lot in front of it. I figured it was due to that.

Not to mention the fault line that runs basically along the same path as the GWB from 635 to 183.

The apartment building I lived in on Northgate had sunk quite a bit on one side. So much so that if you placed a pencil on the coffee table it would roll off the end.

Just looked at Google Earth.. They have the historical views back to 1/30/1995 and that section of 161 was already there back then. Jumping to the next image on 2/27/2001, they had started construction north (when they had the big concrete plant set up where the toll booths are now).

I'm not sure what roads you drive on up there, but the roads on the way to our farm are in far better shape than most around here. Hell, even the 2 mile dirt road is in better shape than any road around here. And it washes out every time it rains.

Irving owns the stretch but it was a deal with the NTTA. Irving gets a cut from the shadygrove/conflans on ramps and the toll booth near 114.

However, the NTTA also states that if Irving does not expand the section to three lanes by 2016 then Irving forfeits that section over to the NTTA at which point they will remove the free exits and on ramps though it will be three lanes if they do ttakeover.

I don't know who built it, but it sucks like a muthu! I've seen some people catch air and then slow down to a crawl after getting scared shitless thinking they were going to crash. Someone needs to stand up there with a GoPro and video that shit...

You've never spent much time in Louisiana I take it? Gotta be hands down the worst roads in the country I've driven, and I've driven a few.. Th-thunk, Th-thunk, Th-thunk, Th-thunk, Th-thunk....... Annoying as fuck.

That is easy for someone to say that doesn't live anywhere near one. It is impossible to do business anywhere in northeast DFW and not get on a toll road.
