Yeah, Double R closes at like 6 even on the weekdays, but their burgers are the BOMB! Vitek's is also awesome, but they close earlier than the OP I believe. Rollo's is good, only because they pile the super cheap toppings high. It's pretty well a campy place, I dig it though. A lot of my friends have worked there. Hell, I think I'm the only one of the people I associate with from Waco that DIDNT work there.

There is a Torchy's by the school now, I haven't been to that specific one but they are usually good. The Salty Dog is pretty good, you also have George's. The new HEB on Valley Mills has a decent little restaurant in it as well. For a college town it's amazing how few good restaurants there are in Waco. Then again I'm used to the TCU area where there are 30+ awesome food trucks, half a dozen fantastic burger joints that aren't chains and some of the best BBQ places north of Lockhart.

HEB's barbacoa, at least back in the 90's, was the best around. Can't believe Viteks is still open (and even back then, they were only open for lunch). Damn good burger there.

There used to be a Mexican place out on Hwy 6, just before you get back to the lake, by the Scott and White hospital. They specialized in seafood and had a decent buffet on the weekends. Can't remember the name now, and not sure if they're still there, but that was one of the best back in the day.

They have two locations now. Well sort of, the main restaurant and there is a little shack that sells gutpacks mainly.

I've been to Vitek's 100+ times and never knew they served hamburgers. But let's be honest. Vitek's BBQ is wildly mediocre, but the gut paks are glorious.
