Pay her if she got appraisals and documents to prove the worth of the damage done. My knee jerk response is mainly due to all these extreme responses from the FTP threads. Yes police fuck up. And yet if the police aren't punished for these fuckups, how will they learn? If they have the budget to deploy SWAT and actually siege a home for hours with everything they can think of, do you not think that budget can be cut considerably to restore this woman to what she had before with compensation for her time spent fighting the city?

It is not THE answer, it is the only answer since the city refused to pay. Which leads to another point, when she sues the city she also gets to collect legal fees. Those are typically 30-40%.

It is. When police departments have to decide between fielding MRAPs and SWAT versus having officers on the street because of lawsuits, maybe they'll make the decision to stop shit like this.
