I would tell her to f/off too. There are only a few ballers here where there house in total cost at least 100K. The structural cost of most homes is usually 20-30% of what you pay for. The bulk of the cost is for land.

Sure the popo fucked up, but that doesn't mean she gets a mansion paid for by the taxpayers.

Cool, take it out of the police operating budget, namely the SWAT budget since they have the cash to lob these at an empty house for 4 hours. You have the decontamination of the structure, the hotel stay while you're waiting for a remodel, labor, materials, interest on 2 years of fighting with the city.

Magnus, I am your father. You need to ask your mother about a man named Calvin Klein.

Maybe so dude. I thought the land was valued more than the structure on my last property tax appraisal. Regardless, I got the impression that she named her own price without backing it up. Pay her if she got appraisals and documents to prove the worth of the damage done. My knee jerk response is mainly due to all these extreme responses from the FTP threads. Yes police fuck up. IMO, no people shouldn't bank because of their fuck ups.

And yet if the police aren't punished for these fuckups, how will they learn? If they have the budget to deploy SWAT and actually siege a home for hours with everything they can think of, do you not think that budget can be cut considerably to restore this woman to what she had before with compensation for her time spent fighting the city?

Hell no. Two wrongs don't make it right. Pay her what she lost in the value of her home/property.

Pay her with what money? Maybe it should come from the public schools funding? How about parks a recreation? Fuck no, the department that fucked up should pay.

So, if they came to your house by mistake, smashed your door and shot your wife accidentally you wouldn't sue them?

It is not THE answer, it is the only answer since the city refused to pay. Which leads to another point, when she sues the city she also gets to collect legal fees. Those are typically 30-40%.

It is. When police departments have to decide between fielding MRAPs and SWAT versus having officers on the street because of lawsuits, maybe they'll make the decision to stop shit like this.

Cops need to go back to their roots and walk the streets and be stewards of the community, not fucking MECH WARRIOR's. Fuck that shit.
