  • Guys - Groomsman Question / Rehearsal Dinner Question

    Any Rehearsal Dinner Ideas ?
We have lots of people from out of town so i want to do something Different ( March Wedding , We have time )
Keep in mind, i do not own a cowskin rug.

Also, How did you ask your groomsman / Best man to be in your wedding ?
I want to be simple, just ask...., however, my fiance ( i hate that word ) suggested gifts, cards, etc..... Kinda bothered by the cards and gifts. I just want to ask... THOughts ?

I just asked mine. Groomsmen gifts are expected, and generally useless. I got mine flasks with their initials engraved in them, and filled them with whiskey since we couldnt serve alcohol at our venue. A friend of mine bought all of his groomsmen suits rather than having them rent a tux. I thought that was a pretty cool idea.

I had my rehearsal dinner at a the Shady Oak BBQ before they went away. It worked well, food was reasonable, and guests could run their own tab for booze.

Just ask the boys in your wolfpack over a pitcher or something. Other usless gift ideas includes beer steins, pocket knives, or a subscription to Bigguns or something. As far as venue I used Cool Rivers in Las Colinas. Decent food with a live band. They offered a cigar bar and pool tables too. You get a seperate dinning room away from the music and cougars, but can pop out anytime to work the room.

Make it a poll on here and we'll all vote for who it should be.

Just ask.... We are men, a very simple species. Anything elaborate may confuse and disorient.

I've never been asked, always told. "Hey, you're gonna be my best man, okay?" Been best man twice and a groomsman 3 other times. Best gift I've gotten was a pair of nice Oakley's for a beach wedding in Hawaii. I also have 4-5 flasks with their anniversary on it.. Whee. Don't be lame and buy flasks unless there's other cool stuff going with it.

I bought some skagen watches for all mine and liquor.

Our rehearsal dinner was at a pub.

Don't gay up the asking with cards. All of my groomsmen were asked via text or call. I am close enough with all of them to not require me to gay it up.

I just asked mine, they pretty much already knew they were going to be anyways. As far as rehearsal dinner we are having ours at The McKinney Pub. Good food, good drinks, and its not some ritzy pinkies up atmosphere. I have a co worker that makes custom hand tooled leather products on his days off, so I had him make some leather koozies with their initials and some Celtic art engraved into them.

One of my buddies for his groomsman gift, he took us all out to the ranger game. Paid for everything, food, drinks, etc.. I thought that was really cool, and meant more to us then a flask.

Yep! I'd be elated if someone would pay for my rental car, tux rental, hotel, or did some other shit way more than if they give me another flask.

All of my groomsmen frequently smoke cigars and use crappy lighters... so they all got brand new Xikar torch lighters with their initials engraved in them.
