I have a friend that is always broke and has two kids from two different dads and is currently single. Also receives food stamps. Anywho, she gets a huge tax return one year and instead of paying off her car or putting it into savings, she buys a pair of tits. Lmao! Wtf is wrong with people?

Very nice! A month or two ago, I was getting gas near my house with my wife and saw a nice black lady talking to her son inside their old Mitsubishi car. Her 10ish year old son gets out of the car after a minute or so and goes inside to pay. She gets out to pump gas and she saw me looking and said to me, "He's autistic and has ADD, so I need to give him very specific instructions to go inside so he knows what to do."

I watch as she gets only a little gas into their Galant sedan at most before their prepayment stops. I finish pumping gas and pull out to leave and I just felt something tugging me from the inside and I pulled back around. I get out and asked her how much gas she got in the car and I looked at the pump. It was like 3.5 gallons in an old Mitsubishi Galant, so that wouldn't get her very far. I looked at her and asked if I could fill her gas tank and she just broke down nearly in tears. Her son got out and started saying "thank you so much, sir." I almost broke down myself. She said she had asked to borrow her sister's car to go to the store so she could buy some food for her and her son and agreed to put a little gas in it in exchange. I filled up her car with another 14 gallons or so and said her sister better let her drive the car many more times for a full tank!

I gave her a nice hug and shook her son's hand and left. In retrospect, I wish I had given them a little cash too for the grocery store, but didn't want them to feel like it was a total charity case.

A lot of us on this board take it for completely granted (including me for sure) that I can fill my gas tank no problem whenever I want and if you guys look around at the gas pumps, you'll see a lot with $5, $10, $20 exactly on the pump meter from the prior person there. A lot of people are hurting for sure it seems.

I don't do this stuff at all, if i am approached at a gas station, i tell them to start helping themselves by voting Republican.

haha, obviously I didn't help that lady because she asked me, because she didn't. I just felt compelled to help and I normally don't do stuff like that.

One other quick story, girlfriend was living off Lemmon/75 MANY years ago and she called me after getting home from work around 10pm and said there was a black guy outside her car near the mailboxes of her apartment complex. I was a minute away and I ran a few red lights and literally slid into the parking lot with the tires spinning on my '01 C5 and slammed on my brakes right behind her car and jumped out and confronted the guy and asked him what in the hell he was doing approaching women at night.

He profusely apologized and started complaining about not having bus fare and being very hungry, etc. and just wanted some money, blah, blah, blah. I calmed down a little and told him there was a Taco Bell across the street and I'd meet him over there and buy him some food. He walks over there and I drive over there and I got out and said, "Don't BS me, you aren't hungry and you really don't want food, do you, you just want money?" He sheepishly grinned and admitted he just wanted money and really wasn't hungry. I gave him $5 and told him to get the hell out of there and never approach a woman in a car again at night and he nodded and scampered off. Dude could get shot pulling crap like that.

There's this young girl who must have either just moved into the area or just hit working age. I see her walking every day with her backpack. I think she's a little "slow". She's overweight and always beet red. I doubt she's wearing sunscreen...

I'm all for helping my fellow man, but there is no excuse in our welfare society for begging other than drugs. A couple of post here outlined very real problems but not one of the people in these stories asked for money and a stranger out of kindness recognized Real people down on their luck.

If asked for some scratch tell them you'll buy them a pack of smokes if you really feel compelled to. At least they can trade them for whatever their poison is.

I was just kidding, I do similar stuff as long as I can tell they aren't shitbag scammers. Nothing worse than someone who will try to take advantage of a generous person.
