  • I need some good reputable movers.

My house will be built in the next couple of weeks and I would like to start looking for movers.

I'm moving from a 1 bedroom apartment to a house about 15 miles away
    (Mansfield to Burleson)

I would like a good, reputable mover that won't destroy my stuff.

If anyone has any suggestions it would much appreciated.

    Thanks

        Off duty firefighters? ?
My parents used them, someone my dad knew through FWFD.
        Could ask if you like.

All About Moving is who we used.
They came in, surveyed everything, wrapped all furniture in blankets then shrink wrapped it all. They were quick and efficient. We moved from a 3 bedroom apartment to a 4 bedroom house. We had 3 guys but you could easily get yours done with just 2 and save some money.
"Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes...Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man." - Thomas Jefferson, 1776

Moving blows! I can't remember the name of the company that we used a few years ago... I wish I could, they were pretty great. We were moving my wife (girlfriend at the time) from north Dallas to my house in Arlington, and it was that year when the Super Bowl was here and it was icy as hell. That moving company was late as shit, but they would NOT stop working even though the weather sucked. They managed to drive across town in the ice that night and they started unloading at 11pm. BIG tip for those guys.

We just moved from DFW to Houston. Part of the relo package was a complete move. I mean they packed everything (they even had guys in the driveway custom building crates for things like TVs and mirrors), loaded it, drove it, unpacked it, and then even took away all the boxes and packing paper. It was the most glorious thing ever.

Done that twice now, it's kind of weird just standing there with nothing to do since they're taking care of it all for you. Moving day usually meant just sit back with a beer and make sure they get everything.

Indeed. The wash is that you have to help them when they move. It's a brutal cycle. I hate moving. I owe several folks after my last move, though. They were great.

This chick I work with just moved a few months ago from an apartment to a house, close to each other, and she doesn't have a crazy amount of shit (single mom with one small child). She did the firemen thing, paid over $1000 and still moved a lot of the small stuff herself. Is that the going rate? WTF?

Pack everything as good as you can, rent a truck and some moving blankets. Buy some brews/food and throw a moving party. If you only have one bedroom it shouldn't take more than a half day with a handful of helpers.

If you do it on a Monday-Thursday you can negotiate the trip charge and fuel fee . I just used them to move my one bedroom apartment to my new house about 15 miles $250.00.
