  • Enclosed car hauler suggestions?

I am in the market for an enclosed car hauler, any suggestions on who to buy from, avoid, what features to look for, brands, etc.
I looked at a Lark trailer at big tex and it didn't look very well built.
Looking for a 24ft'er, something like this.

No bullshit, you can find some used semi rigs with some nice trailers (albeit 15 years old or so) for around 50k if you bide your time.

My dad has a Wells Cargo, had it for over 15 years, no problems with it. He did have a door added above the driver side wheels, to allow easier access to the car when its inside.

If you can go a little shorter my neighbor has a damned nice Haulmark...20x8.5, it's upgraded with an additional ramp door on the left side for scooters/motorcycles and has an extended tongue for hauling behind a motorhome. It also has the upgraded 8-lug torsion axles (like the one you added above), and has the finish package on the interior....floors, walls, high cabinets in the front, etc.

I thought about buying it from him myself....I think it's like an 08' model, he's the original owner, has all the paperwork with it. He offered it to me for $5500 which seemed like a decent deal on one with all the upgrades.

PM me if you want his number.

To me the most important thing is having a tow vehicle that can safely pull and stop it.
A 48" curbside door or the double 24" is even better.
Torsion axles. I think most have these. I like em.
Diamond plate stone guard in the front is nice.
Tie down points as mentioned above and some straps to do the tying. Maybe a pair of axle straps.

Good or new tires. Wheels that aren't all corroded/rusted.
Coupler in good condition. Maybe an electric jack.
All lights operating and in good condition. You will want to get spares to carry. Getting pulled over because you have a light out isn't too fun, especially when they want to search your vehicle for no apparent reason.
Pull it and make sure it tracks straight. Have a friend or someone follow to make sure. Lots of bent, jacked up junk out there.
Brakes work. You might want to pull a drum or four to make sure the shoes are good and the seals aren't leaking.
Enclosed is nice. Always have shade and a place when it precipitates.
I'm pretty sure those are six lug 15" wheels in that first pic. That's what are on mine but mine are steel. Make sure you buy the E load rated tires.

I paid about $8k new for my 24' Haulmark a few year ago. I looked around at the time and it seemed like people were asking similar money for trailers that were well used. The only thing i don't like about it is the spare tire well is located underneath the car. I just use it as parts storage and keep the spare in the main section of the trailer.

The only problem I had was one of the tires had a leaky valve stem right off the bat. Other than that I have no complaints.
                .

I am looking at a VERY similar one to the one in the pic, it's white, finished interior, 8k

They are females , aren't they? They do the same thing just as a trailer does the same function.

mine is just a 22 footer, but I have that side door like coot cat mention. makes things so much nicer. plus I have a rasied rap in the floor. so it keeps the car alittle higher up. Makes it nice for straping the car down.
